In-use Verification Program
(IUVP) at TRP Labs
Your car’s manufacturer trusts us to provide its third party in-use verification testing. Through IUVP and in support of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the California Air Resources Board (CARB), our labs perform testing to make sure vehicles not only meet emission standards when they are new, but also remain compliant across the years.
When you drop off your vehicle we’ll guide you through our process and can even show you where your vehicle will be tested. Rest assured your vehicle will be handled with the utmost care.

What should I expect?
- You can pick up your newer model rental car at the same time and location as your drop off
- Your rental will have a full tank of fuel
- We’ll need your car for approximately two weeks to complete all necessary testing, this can vary depending on the testing required
- After testing is complete you will receive your monetary compensation
- The exterior of your car will be cleaned before pick-up, and you will have a full tank of gas

What type of testing is done?
- In-use testing is performed in our labs on our advanced chassis dynamometers, also referred to as a dyno, this testing equipment is much like a big treadmill
- Your vehicle will be run on an indoor dyno to safely simulate real world driving conditions without exposing your car to the elements or dangers of the road
- We will be testing for the emissions your car gives off in these real world driving conditions and will be providing the vehicle manufacturer with data and reports outlining the current performance characteristics of your car
- This data not only helps your car manufacturer meet EPA and CARB emission requirements but also helps inform the development of future models of your car

We’ll let you know where to drop off your car. TRP Labs has Emissions Testing Facilities in:
- Aurora, CO: 2022 Helena St, just minutes from the intersection of Colfax Ave and Chambers Rd
- Columbus, IN: 635 S Mapleton St
FAQ
Do I have to participate in the program?
This program is voluntary.
Why should I participate in the program?
Many incentives. Monetary compensation, complimentary loaner vehicle, washed vehicle, fully-fueled vehicle after testing is complete.
What type of rental vehicle?
Complimentary use of a fully fueled comparable rental
What if my vehicle doesn’t meet the mileage requirements?
In some circumstances, lower mileage vehicle can be approved.
How many miles will be put on my vehicle?
Roughly 100 miles total for testing.
Will my vehicle be protected?
Both your vehicle and the rental are fully insured. When you drop off your vehicle, documentation will be signed that shows this.
Do you work directly with the Manufacturer?
Yes, we work directly with the manufacturer headquarters to complete this testing for them. Please note that dealerships are third party companies and may not know about this testing.
How long will my vehicle be gone?
Roughly 2 weeks for Aurora, CO
Roughly 4 weeks for Columbus, IN
